Red eared sliders allowed outside?

I have 3 and i was wondering if i could let them roam around outide. its 88 degrees outside and i wanted to water down the pattio or let them in the grass and keep a close eye on them from birds. Will they be okay? and should i wash them off with some water before putting them back in their tanks? bad idea to let them outside for a little?
